چکیده

Su1MMARY: The method of most probable numbers (MI") was employed in order to determine the number of resistant brucella cells at concentrations of streptomycin of 1,lO and 100pg.lml. The examination showed agreement with the centrifugation method (plating of the sediment of at least 1OOml. of culture together with the required concentration of streptomycin) in a range up to 1000 resistant cells/100 ml. The method showed that there exist differences in the numbers of resistant cells in different strains, and that in cultures originating from the same colony variations occur. The general trend is a rtlative increase of the resistant cells with the age of the culture.

Prevalence of the Most Common Virulence-Associated Genes among Brucella Melitensis Isolates from Human Blood Cultures in Hamadan Province, West of Iran

Brucellosis is a widespread zoonotic disease causing considerable economic and public health problems. Despite animal vaccination, brucellosis remains endemic in some areas such as Iran, especially in the western Iranian province of Hamadan. We sought to detect some of the most common virulence-associated genes in Brucella isolated from human blood cultures to determine the prevalence of some v...

Biotransformation of salicylaldehyde to salicin using Varthemia persica cell suspension cultures

Cell cultures of Varthemia persica DC. have been studied to evaluate their abilities in biotransformation of aromatic and aliphatic precursors. V. Persica (Asteraceae) is an aromatic plant growing in Iran. V. persica contain different terpens but its cell culture does not posses these compounds. Callus cultures of V. persica was established ...

BIO treatment enhances rat marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cell in vitro proliferation and viability

Introduction: Previous investigations have indicated that the presence of BIO (6-Bromoindirubin-3-Oxime) in medium of some cell culture enhances the cell proliferation and viability. The aim of the present study was to investigate the BIO effects on in vitro expansion of rat marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) culture. Methods: In the present experimental study, bone marrow cells from ...

Supportive Effects of Human Embryonic Fibroblast Cell Lines on Growth and Proliferation of EBV-Transformed Lymphoblastoid Cells

Human diploid fibroblast cells produce a spectrum of necessary growth factors and extracellular matrix (ECM) components essential for growth and proliferation of a variety of other cell types. In this study, the effect of five human embryonic fibroblast cell lines, isolated from liver, lung, skin and foreskin tissues, was investigated. A coculture system analyse was employed to cloning efficien...

Stereospecific Biotransformation of (±) Phenylethyl Propionate by Cell Cultures of Peganum harmala L.

The enzymatic potential of the cultured plant cells can be employed for bioconversion purposes. Plant enzymes are able to catalyze regio- and stereo-specific reactions, and therefore can be applied for the production of desired substances. The biotransformation of foreign substrates with suspension cells of Peganum harmala was tested with (±) phenylethyl propionate. The callus cultures of Pegan...
